About Securanote
Learn more about our mission and how Securanote works.
Our Mission
Securanote provides simple, secure, and controlled secret note sharing to trusted people in your life - only if they need it.
Who Needs Securanote
Caretakers
Securely share vital information like medical details, financial access, or home entry codes with trusted people, ensuring they have the info they need in an emergency.
Planners
Prepare for the unexpected by staging critical information for a designated person. Share access to last wishes, important contacts, or digital account recovery details, accessible only when specified.
Travellers
Travel with peace of mind. Securely stage copies of your passport, visa, and emergency contacts, giving a trusted person at home access just in case.
Collaborators
Temporarily share confidential project files, access credentials, or sensitive data with partners or contractors with strict time and view limits, ensuring information is only available for the duration it's needed.
Why Securanote Is Different Than Password Managers
Password Managers like 1Password (which we recommend using!) are essential tools to manage and protect your private information. And while these tools make it easy to securely share secret infomation with other people, sometimes you don't want that information seen - until it actually needs to be seen or used.
Securanote gives you complete control of the information you share, and gives you the confidence that the information will be viewed by the people you trust - only when they need it.
How It Works
Create
You create a secure note using basic text, or you may upload an image or PDF file.
Configure
You set access parameters, such as an expiry time, a maximum number of views, and an optional password for your trusted person to access the content. All content is encrypted client-side, and nothing is visible on the backend.
Share
A unique, shareable link is generated. You send this link and the access password we generate for you to your trusted person.
Access
When it's time to access your shared secure note, Your trusted person uses the link and password you've shared. The system then validates access based on your configured parameters (for example, expiry date or view count).
Get Notified
For even great control and confidence, you automatically receive notifications when someone views your shared secure note.
Our goal is to give you peace of mind when sharing critical information.
Why you should trust Securanote
Securanote is built using modern web technologies including Next.js, React, and Tailwind CSS. Secrets are stored in Firebase Firestore. Client-side encryption utilizes the Web Crypto API (AES-GCM), and passwords are always required for viewing secrets. Email is handled via Resend.
